 21 reasons to drink in L.A. is an ongoing project I started years ago. My idea is to photograph 21 of the best female bartenders in L.A., the ones who keep the customers coming back.

This is Merideth. She works at a bar in Venice Beach. Teaching and practicing yoga keeps her grounded and focused on what’s important in her life. Recently, while living in Japan, she taught English as a second language,  farming through the WWOOF program, and also hiked to the top of Mount Fuji. Currently, she is pursuing a degree in environmental leadership.

This Is Carol. She worked at The Viper Room on Sunset when we shot. She was the most reserved of the Bartenders but with a definate air of mystery.
